Setup
E-mail Addresses for Your Site
If you would like to setup email addresses for your account
while reading the following instructions click here
(this will launch a second browser window allowing you to
read the instructions while going through the setup) or
when you are ready go to the SearchBC.Com
Web Hosting Account Control Panel. You can download this
documentation here.
Login with your site username and password and click
on "Domain Mail Services" in the menu. There are two
types of email addresses you can set up: email
aliases and pop accounts.
Email aliases are used when you wish to redirect the mail
to another existing email address. The existing email address
can either be a POP account on our system, or an email account
anywhere on the Internet.
To set up an email alias click on "Email Aliases"
inside of Domain Mail Services. There is a field to enter
the left-hand side of the email address and a drop-down
list to select the domain name for this redirection. If
you only have one domain name on our system then the drop-down
is not used. In the field labelled "Redirect to" enter a
valid, existing Internet email address. Email will now be
redirected transparently from the new email address to your
existing Internet email address. You can also redirect email
to multiple existing Internet email addresses: simply enter
eachk email in the "Redirect to" field, separated by a comma.
To edit an email alias simply click on the email address
in the list. You can then either change the existing Internet
email address, or delete the email alias. POP Accounts are
email addresses which reside on our servers, with their
own username and password.
To setup an email autoresponder go to the SearchBC.Com
Web Hosting Account Control Panel. Log-in with your
site username and password and click on Domain Mail Services.
Follow the instructions provided from there.
To
set up a POP account select "POP Accounts" under Domain
Mail Services. Be certain to read below if you are setting
up a POP account for use with Microsoft
Outlook. There is a field to enter the left-hand side
of the email address and a drop-down list to select the
domain name for this POP Account. If you only have one domain
name on our system then the drop-down is not used. Enter
the password you would like to use and click the "Add Address"
button. The POP account will be available for use immediately.
Usernames for POP accounts are generated automatically,
by using the email address and converting the 'at' sign
and the period to an underscore. For example "yourname@example.com"
would have a username of "yourname_example_com". The password
is assigned by you. In your mail program use "domainmail.searchbc.com"
as the incoming/POP server. You must use your current provider
for outgoing SMTP email. Check with your ISP for the name
of their email server.
To change the password or delete a POP account click on
the email address from the list. To change the password
of a POP account enter the new password and click on "Update".
To delete the POP account simply click the "Delete" button.
Any email stored on the system will also be deleted when
you delete the POP account!
Setup of POP Accounts for Microsoft
Outlook
To use your POP accounts with Microsoft Outlook you need
to create a new account. Select "Accounts" under the "Tools"
menu of Outlook. An Internet Accounts dialog box will appear.
Select the "Add" button, then the "Mail" menu item. You
will then be walked through a Wizard to set up your account.
The "Display name" is simply your real name. Select "I already
have an e-mail address I'd like to use", and enter the address
of your POP account on the next screen. Select "POP3" for
the incoming mail server type, "domainmail.searchbc.com"
for the Incoming mail server and use your ISP's mail server
for the Outgoing mail server. The last screen is for your
Account name and password. The Account name is the username
generated from your email address.
